Glossary

High quality translations should always go through a proof-reading step. In this step, the proof-reader literally reads through the translation as if s/he were the end user, checking for any small changes that will enhance the translation. Tools are often used during this process, such as automated grammar and spell-checkers as well as automated terminology verification tools.

X

A technical step in localization, carried out before starting translation. In this stage, source text is automatically replaced by characters in the target language and the text length is modified based on the target language length. This makes it possible to discover ahead of time places where target language characters are not properly presented, as well as places where the translated text may be truncated due to shortage of space.
